Caroling for Peace
Boston students against war from numerous area campuses.
The group of Boston students against war who held the silent procession for last month's Moratorium have come together to plan Caroling for Peace! We will be meeting at 330 PM on Friday, Dec 21st in Downtown Crossing (corner of Washington St. and Bromfield St.).

We have enlisted the help of the Raging Grannies, who have dozens of anti-war songs written, and we will be singing peaceful songs to classic holiday tunes to the people shopping in the area. We are making a banner as well as signs with quotations about peace from different denominations.

Bring your protest signs, your instrument, your singing voice, anything you want! Extra points to those who bring a candle (electric or not) and any other festive props.

In addition to singing, we are planning some skits as well as a handout with suggestions on how people can support the anti-war movement during the holidays.

Our major focus of this event is supporting our Troops, and our message is that the best way to do that is by bringing them home NOW! On the handout, we will provide information about supporting veterans (especially IVAW), military families (especially Goldstar Families for Peace), information on counter-recruitment efforts and legislation concerning the condition of our troops.

ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US! Please contact us!

We hope to make this event even more successful than last (which is hard to top!). It is a very busy time for students at the end of the semester, so any help in planning is also greatly appreciated! We look forward to seeing everyone again. Peace to all, Happy Holidays!

Silent Vigil for Peace
It is either a standing or walking vigil in silent commemoration of the Afghans, Iraqis, Americans, British, Spanish and others who have died, been injured or have otherwise suffered through the loss or injury of a loved one or loss of livelihood or home, in these current Gulf area wars. The vigil will be silent in order that we can have time for reflection on the human causes of war, our own part in our ways of life and our participation in structures that sustain war, and how we might best live and act to reduce hatred and the causes of war. It will also reflect our call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, and for the return home of all American armed forces from the Gulf area.

We would like any posters carried to reflect peace and not sarcasm or political attacks. Everyone has by now heard the attacks on all sides, we have heard the arguments, now let us model silence and peace. If we feel we must talk we should temporarily leave the vigil to speak across the street or over a cup of coffee at the Mint Cafe. I doubt there will be many hecklers, but if there are, the appropriate response could be to either talk with them respectfully across the street, or to ignore them and maintain silence in the vigil.

Everyone is welcome to come and join in for as much time as they are able, even if for only five or ten minutes. Our vigil will coincide with a national call for vigils on Dec. 21 being promoted by groups across the country. May we quell our anger and frustration, reflect on ourselves and our country, our ways of life, and may peace increasingly prevail within and around us. [Contact,_Updates,_Comments_and_Reports]
